The Peterborough Swim School strives to teach young swimmers stroke skills and to increase endurance.
The school is divided into two sections: bronze and silver. Lessons take place at Trent University.
The bronze group focuses on the front crawl and backstroke. Classes are once per week.
In the silver group, front and back stroke skills are enhanced and swimmers also work on the breast stroke. Elements of the butterfly stroke are also introduced. Streamlining and proper lane etiquette, turns and race diving are introduced. Classes are twice per week.
Sessions are nine or ten weeks in length depending on the session. The lessons focus on in-water learning with a qualified instructor.
Upon completion of the course, swimmers may be invited to proceed to the competitive program of the Trent Swim Club.
Sessions are held three times per year beginning in September, January and March.
Prerequisite: We accept children ages 5 years and older. Swimmers MUST be able to swim 25 metres (one pool length) without stopping and be comfortable putting their face in the water. The Peterborough Swim School provides great off-season stroke improvement and endurance conditioning for young triathletes.
